This series hopes to explore issues that women face when it comes to insecurities about their bodies and societal pressures. (I was going to write just my experience then I realized that that’s just one body type) I hope this style makes sense to y’all. Feel free to go back and read other articles for this series.
I remember when I was primary school, Fridays afternoons were for exercise and lots of crying. The teacher would make us do strenuous exercise then walk around terrorizing everyone who didn’t do the exercises well. I think I can use this as an excuse why I am not the biggest fan of exercising. Over the years I have started an exercising routine that I skip for a few days then never come back to😂😂😂😂. I hope to get abs one day but I never seem to stay consistent enough. I even take pictures before so that I can have those corny before and after pictures but I never get the after.
I figured that I can’t talk about the body and not talk about exercising. I am no expert but I have been thinking about exercising and my relationship with it. I have wondering if the fact I do it because I want a certain part of my body to look a certain way is healthy. I have been trying to shift my focus from just wanting abs to loving on my body and taking care of it. I try to do affirmations while I exercise though sometimes it’s so hard because I sorta need loud music to get me in the mood for strenuous exercise. I hope one day to learn doing something as peaceful as yoga looks. I have currently been consistent for the past three weeks and I hope to do for rest of the year. Hopefully It’s part of my achievements in 2021 (Fingers crossed)
Some people exercise because of serotonin but for me, it never works because I am a little obsessed with hitting certain numbers and if it is created then I guess it’s used up immediately. My favorite thing about exercising is the feeling after taking a shower, I feel fresh and accomplished. I start the day with the feeling that I have done a lot with my life for the day. I think I am also proud of the fact that I have kept a promise to myself.
